Mytec Presents Biometric Encryption(TM) Technology to Industry Peers
Biometric Encryption(TM) for Secure Key Management
TORONTO, Jan. 15 /CNW-PRN/ - Today at the RSA Conference in San Francisco, Mytec Technologies Inc. presented for the first time, scientific details of its Biometric Encryption(TM) algorithm - a highly advanced encryption key management process.
Dr. Colin Soutar, Mytec's Director of Research and Development, presented the technical details of the Biometric Encryption(TM) algorithm, and discussed the importance of encryption key management. Dr. Soutar also described how Biometric Encryption(TM) could be used with any encryption key algorithm (including RSA) for a higher level of data security. As a result of today's presentation, Mytec hopes to stimulate vendors of existing encryption algorithms to adopt Biometric Encryption(TM) as their preferred key management solution.
Dr. Soutar has a Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Abertay Dundee in the U.K., and has previously worked for the NASA Johnson Space Center.
The RSA Data Security Conference runs until January 16, and is being held at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, California. The annual conference is attended by the world's leading encryption companies and is hosted by RSA Data Security.
Biometric Encryption(TM) securely links a key or password with a biometric, such as a fingerprint. The process uses a combination of a person's fingerprint and key to create a template called a Bioscrypt(TM) - a secure package of data which is designed so that it cannot be reverse engineered back to the original fingerprint or key. The key can only be restored by presenting both the fingerprint and the Bioscrypt(TM) to a system running the Biometric Encryption(TM) algorithm.
Mytec is a public company listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol MYT. Mytec is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario with a U.S. sales office in Atlanta, Georgia.
Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Counterforce, Mytec also provides alarm monitoring services to more than 600 partner/dealers who sell, install and service security alarm systems.
