I have heard to stay away from Samsung and LG, the electronics go bad earlier than most other brands,

We went with Samsung double door for the refrigerator 4 years ago and have been pleased other than a noisy ice maker. The freezer is on the bottom but the ice maker and storage is up in the frig part. Makes no sense to me but it works. I would DEFINITELY get the no fingerprint finish next time.

We asked the sales people in each store (Lowes, HomeDepot, etc) which brands came back for the fewest
repairs/complaints. Most people seemed pretty honest giving their evaluation

Microwave: IMO they are almost disposable now like toasters and coffee pots. Next time I will buy one that shuts off after cooking and not stay on (not cooking) with the fan and constant beeping. Very annoying!
