Susie, as a friend I have to at least remind you that you were going to make an effort to not be a homie with your picks... you're a top-talent picker with a habit -- we may have to stage an intervention... <ggg> Just kidding, of course... but being here in Mich for the last while and for another 6-8 weeks, I have been bombarded with irrational exuberance as well as irrational depression/pessimism for the Lions from the local citizenry -- all 30 or 40 of them... <ggg> They did NOT appreciate it when my old home town Miami University Redhawks almost upset Mich. State last weekend -- Miami has/had a proud football tradition and went 48 years without a losing record... then I moved away and they went straight into the toilet... it wasn't until I became a more regular visitor that they regained past glory and upset a Big 10 school or two and on to an 11-0 record... did I mention that was Ben Roethlisberger's last year at Miami? I don't think he was ever tackled by less than 4-5 defenders, and one game I witnessed in person, he (the rest of the team didn't matter) was on the opponent's 45 yd line facing a 3rd and 10... Ben dropped back, dodged a couple tacklers and then pooch punted to the 10 yd. line, recovered the ball himself and dragged 5 defenders into the end zone... it wasn't fair to allow him to play in the MAC conference, but none of the big schools would touch him since he only had one season in HS at QB. Then I was absent again for years and Miami fell back into a bad funk... except I did attend their game with Mich. St. and they almost pulled it off... I'm thinking they should pay me to go to games... and their hockey team, too... I've seen them in person about a couple dozen times and they never lose when I'm in the rink. Good luck!
