First Gold Batch To Be Exported To Europe

The first batch of gold ingots to be exported to Europe will leave tomorrow, it was reported by the Korea Housing Bank, Tuesday. The gold is part of the four tons of gold collected by the bank in a nationwide in a campaign to bring foreign currency into the country. The four tons were sent to Koryo Zinc and after smelting and refining produced one ton of 99.9% gold. The first shipment of 300kg was dispatched to Kimpo airport in a bullet proof van by the US Brinks security company, with the second due Friday. The entire consignment is valued at US$10 million.
