9/21/2018 Contest update
Viking oligonucleotides replicated in the 16 portfolios holding VKTX, providing a big boost to their Contest rankings. However, the Viking DNA was insufficient to produce a weekly gain for the Contest median.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 19.74% YTD (vs. up 20.99% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 11.15% YTD (vs. up 10.33% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 12.53% YTD (vs. up 12.97% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) was up 15.70% YTD (vs. up 16.03% YTD a week ago).
A 10% allocation to VKTX helped KMASTR’s portfolio, up 101.63% YTD, hold the Contest lead. However, with a 20% allocation to VKTX, THID’s portfolio, up 97.68% YTD, got even more help, jumping into second place within striking distance of the lead. Also benefitting from a 20% allocation to VKTX, MILJENKO’s portfolio, up 90.80% YTD, bounded into third place.
At Friday's close, 48 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 40 beating the NBI and 39 now beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks have an average YTD gain of 10.86% and a median YTD loss of -3.07%, with 108 showing a gain for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun penultimate September weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
