"The kaldo furnace technology, replacing furnaces for roasting, smelting and refining, brings a considerably decreased emission of selenium. This will improve the working conditions and the environment at the same time as production will increase. Costs will also be lowered", said Anders Blow.
The plant will also be more flexible and will be able to take in additional, external material of a kind not possible to treat at R”nnsk„r today, such as scrap or filter dust. The new precious metal plant is an important part of the extensive expansion being planned at the R”nnsk„r smelter, to increase copper production to more than 200,000 tonnes per year.
