I guess I don't know enough to really comment any further. If FC switch/hubbing becomes a big market, then I'd certainly imagine the big boys would try to get involved.
BTW, re: IPX and the Accelar. I don't view it as an issue, as far as Bay's official vision and strategy goes. Bay has made the statement that IP has won the battle and is concentrating on IP optimized equipment. Legacy protocols will be handled by the traditional/legacy multi-protocol router.
If you look at the growth segments of the industry, it's not IPX, Appletalk, etc. or FDDI, sync, etc. It's IP, ethernet, ATM, Sonet, etc. So, where is it best to focus precious R&D dollars? IP. That's one of the cornerstones behind Adaptive Networking.
