The trade wars were not started by Trump. He's just finally responding. You really need to read up on what China has done to us. They have been ripping us off blind for 30 years. They have a literal army of spies engaged in corporate espionage right here in the US. In addition, their corporate laws are very protectionist against anyone wanting to do business in China. You basically have to give over your IP to do business there. They are mercantilist and predatory. China is not the good guy here. They are most certainly the bad guy. And it's not just business. They are trying to spread their ideology, which is old style communist. Remember, President Xi Jin Ping is now President for life. They are implementing as we speak a social scoring and monitoring system that would have been the envy of Hitler or Castro. They are literally implementing 1984 over there. People who oppose the government too vocally disappear. You think it is an accident that Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, is stepping down? China will not allow one man to gain too much power beyond the communist politburo and President Xi.

You may think you want China to win and you want Socialism here, but if you knew what that really meant, then you would cheer on what Trump is doing with China. He is taking a stand and that is what is required. It's a tough stand to keep up, because it will most certainly have short term negative consequences to some US companies and employees. But if we don't take that stand now, China will continue to gain economic power and eventually sideline us. That will lead to a China that can rock this world with old style Communism. Not good at all.
