I added to my holdings Tuesday at 19 15/16. Looking for some perspective in the official earnings statement next week and reports of the conference call. Hoping for something a little more upbeat than we got last week. Mainly, however, I just want the straight scoop. I can deal with facts. My experience over the past few months of really watching the market is that there aren't many analysts who know what they're talking about. The S&P stock report I read and which was dated 3 Jan 98 gave Adaptec a strong buy (5 stars) and very positive statements about earnings for this year. What kind of information was used for that report? The message is: approach these assessments with a very cynical and careful dose of skepticism. Anyone know who the Adaptec experts are? What about on-line sources of news and statistics about the industry? Seems like most of the on-line tech news services I see understandably focus on the larger companies. Starowl
