I remember Garland. It was all politics. And to that extent, we could say what is happening to Kavanaugh is payback. So I'll say what I usually say in cases like this. Karma is a big old bad bitch. The GOP is getting Karma on this.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's discuss something more serious. Is this really how we want our government to work? I don't know about you, but from where I'm sitting, I find the entirety of our government to be a bad dream. The GOP and Democrats are so corrupt, worthless, venal, and incapable of governing, that I really do fear for our Democracy. We have become ungovernable. And the people are hopelessly divided. The right sees the left as the enemy and the left sees the right as the enemy. There is no reaching out across the aisle. There is no small attempt to understand. There is no tolerance for differing opinions. It's all out war.

I've said this before, but in the long span of human history, Democracies/Republics are really an anomaly. They are fleeting things. I think we're all beginning to see why. Humans seem to be incapable of living together for a prolonged period without tearing each other apart. Our Congress is a microcosm of that malady.
