if Ripple XRP became the defacto standard in the banking industry then it's just a matter of time before it displaces Bitcoin in market cap. I suspect like in all industries, as in life, there are always two dominant players (a duality) like Android vs IOS for example... I wouldn't doubt that if you are dealing with a bank and want to buy Bitcoin, the transaction would have happen through Ripple Net, which in turn would make XRP the new world currency.
