Ben- Its either a relative few empty bellies over time or a bankrupt society and a lot of empty bellies in the end. This has always been the choice. Govts. dipping into public funds a little at first to subsidize the "needy", be it the individual,the farmer, or the large corporation, has always, throughout history, grown into a massive welfare state, usurping its citizens wealth either through taxation or by debasing the currency. To paraphrase what Ben Franklin (I think) said, if you choose security over liberty you will end up losing both. PR
