Exactly. When I warn my Democratic friends of the dangers of Socialism and point to Venezuela, they say, "we don't mean THAT Socialism." This is how clueless they really are. Democrats can't even agree on what Socialism means. What they don't understand is that what all variants of Socialism have in common is the concept of redistribution by force from one group of people to another. That requires a bigger, more invasive government. Redistribution starts off by promising free stuff to the masses, but it ends up with a strongman in charge who redistributes to his friends and family. Socialism always ends with less freedom and prosperity for the masses. It's almost axiomatic. To the extent that some Socialistic countries are more prosperous than others is directly correlated to how much of their economy they have allowed to remain capitalistic. It's funny to me that Socialists will point to some countries and claim how successful they are economically, not realizing that if the economies of those countries are capitalistic. Once again, it shows how clueless Socialists and Democrats are. At the end of the day, they are challenged with the fundamentals of mathematics.
