They did a port not a new product

Remember Netscape did the product. That is where the expertise Novell needed lies. Perhaps Schmidt will now do a more direct support deal with Netscape for that end of the Novonyx deal.

And the key to success for Novonyx was piggbacking onto Novell's installed base. How were they supposed to do that without using Novell's sales channel? Were they supposed to reinvent Novell's sales force? Without sales you have a failed startup and the equity is worthless.

Lastly I doubt whether Schmidt is going to reward hard working engineers that did the Novell end of the port with the boot. They will certainly be needed unless somehow their skills are made out of date by Netwre 5.0. (I doubt it.) THey can alwys post here and tell us. Or send us anonymous Email.

Slimy managers: (those who really stood to make the bucks)---well maybe this is the last of those attempts by insiders to rape the shareholders.

The cost to Novell to repurchase the company: Good question and Stone should get out an answer to dispell any rumors.
