I went to look up SJM today was going to say that you should have waited a day but it bucked the trend,

I try to stay flexible with time frames. At first I went really short but it doesn't give you as much downside protection if market turns. You can make valid arguments for on any number of time frames. Some folks like to go out a year or more. I have read several books on the topic, but some of those authors use riskier non dividend paying stocks.

If you ever decide to roll a position make sure to use spread orders. Also you are usually better off entering enter orders early in the day ( spreads).
