Bob:

Sorry I never responded to your post (regarding the hiring of software engineers). I went out of town for a few days.

I really don't know if the person I know was hired as a replacement or as an addition to the staff. I only know that he is a former Novell employee (as are others on the technical staff), and that it is only in the last few months that he was hired. As I've moved away from Utah I don't have the opportunity to speak to him much. I heard the news from his wife, who couldn't give me too much detail (not because it was secret, but because she just didn't know!).

As for the general mood of this thread, I think you're right. I've been both positive and frustrated (negative) on this thread. There is a way to be negative without being negative, if you see what I mean. Apparently a few people on the thread don't catch the distinction, and come across as rude (John Harris, I have to say sometimes you come across as a bit too smug, but maybe that's just a poor job of interpreting your words on my part. Mr. Pink goes without saying. I know of a few paramilitary groups living in the fringe towns of Utah--some of Mr. Pink's comments sound reminiscent of them. . . .)

Anyway, everyone lighten up. It's only money! : )

Matt
