Marijuana: CANADA Makes History

It’s all about Cannabis Canada today. Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton did the honours in St. John’s at one minute past midnight, handing over a receipt to the customer who made the first legal purchase of recreational cannabis in this country. Today, we’re going across Canada with unprecedented BNN field coverage of how this historic day will play out across the country. From Halifax to Victoria, we’ll be there with a big helping hand from our CTV colleagues and Bloomberg partners. And we’ve got a live blog on BNN.ca documenting how the day unfolds. Putting hoopla and photo ops aside, lots of important issues will be addressed. Two at the top of our list:

-What’s next for investors? BNN Bloomberg's Paul Bagnell gets perspective right out of the gate on The Street with the always-outspoken Barry Schwartz.

-Secondly: Can the Canadian industry hang on to its head start? BNN Bloomberg's David George-Cosh will look into the future and address risks on the horizon. He’ll also recap what he saw and heard at an industry party last night. He’s got evidence (pictures).

We’ve also got Andrew Bell scouring the globe for reaction to how Canada’s milestone is playing out in the eyes of the world, Jameson Berkow will try his hand at the Ontario Cannabis Store’s web portal before heading out to a licensed producer’s facility in Mississauga, and Tara Weber will check in with the CEO of Alcanna at one of the company’s brand new pot stores in Calgary.
