Tea Tree Oil is the most powerful antiseptic/astringent home remedy I ever came across. Have used it for many years. I used to get occasional facial pimples that would resolve pretty quickly if I caught them early.

It can be cut with Witch Hazel. A little goes a long way. Buy it in a dark bottle, as its potency lasts longer in them than in clear ones.

I understand it was used in WWI and saved a lot of men from having to amputate limbs by staving off gangrene.
