People who are retired are not "unemployed". They are part of the U6 who have dropped out of the job market. Legitimately, I might add.

But we do have a fundamental problem that people are allowed to retire too early. The minimum retirement age needs to be mid-70s. The program was never designed to give the average person 15 years of retirement security. Medicare, either.

Ultimately, these are the only workable solutions to the fiscal disaster these programs have created. If someone saves enough money to retire early without SS or Medicare benefits, more power to them.
