That bear doesn't look healthy. We have a female bear in the area that has become sort of a mascot for the town folk.............she's been named Beatrice. Amazingly, for 4 yrs in a row she has given birth to twins. Once in awhile she comes snooping around to see if anyone left their garbage can out. About 2 months ago she was into a guy's can down the road, and he shot her in the foot. She's been spotted several times since, and it has been reported that she can't put any weight on that foot. The authorities have been called and I guess they paid the guy a visit, but no one will say who he is. Everyone is worried about Beatrice, and we've been told there will be no intervening on her part unless she dies. In that case the authorities will come in and rescue the babies. The guy who owns the local coffee stand..........Bigfoot Espresso out on hwy 2................. is keeping an eye on her and knows where her den is. He told a neighbor that Beatrice crosses Hwy 2 a couple of times a day. Last yr one of her twins was hit and killed. I know they're just brute animals, but I'm really worried about Beatrice and her cubs.
