Good luck getting them off. Since I own an apt house, I have to deal with more then one washer. My secret is to use plumber's grease on the threads and washer when I put them on. Use on kitchen and bathroom connections too.

As for tightening, I just use the regular round ends and tighten GENTLY with a pair of pliers or channel locks.
