This situation may have acounted for some of the recent weakness. Excerpts from Reuters:

LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks were seen opening higher on Friday, assuming no major negative surprise in economic reports due out before Wall Street opens, London traders said.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) was also seen active again after a Wall Street Journal report highlighted the threat of order cancellations. Philipine Airlines 1/8PHL.CN 3/8 on Wednesday said it would not take delivery of four 747s and Thai Airways on Thursday said it might seek delayed deliveries this year.
