CNN Doesn’t Plan To Hire Outgoing Admin Who Helped Trump Lie
Talking Points Memo
by Nicole Lafond

As some Trump administration officials eye the exits after the midterms, CNN President Jeff Zucker doesn’t want to hire any Trump alums who helped the President spread false information, Politico reported.

According to people familiar with the conversations who spoke to Politico, Zucker has told people both inside and outside the network that he’d handle hiring on a case-by-case basis, but said he’s only interested in some departing officials who have “avoided damaging their credibility” — in Politico’s words — like Nikki Haley, who was floated as an example.

“If they do any hiring after the midterms, it’s more likely to be members of Congress, senators and governors who lost their races, plus outgoing GOP members,” a person familiar with the conversations told Politico.

The news comes as tensions remain high between CNN and the White House after the network was mailed a pipe bomb last week and its New York City office was forced to evacuate. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed that the network blamed her and Trump for the attempted attack.
