I like that idea. I remember when I was a small boy, living in the country. We simply put all disposables in a barrel out back and set fire to it when it got crowded. It smoked up the area, along with everyone else who did the same thing. Stunk pretty bad, most of the time.

But when I'd get to go into the city to see my cousins, a "garbage wagon" would come down their street weekly. My aunt would carry a bucket of mixed garbage (not dry trash, mostly food waste) and the guy would dump it into this open wagon of slop. I was told they used it for hog feed but I don't know if that was true or not. This was during WWII, early 40's, so I suppose they made use of everything in ways that wouldn't be appropriate, or legal, today.
