Hi John, it is amazing what we do pay here in the US for some services compared to elsewhere.
My folks were doing one of the river cruises earlier this year in Europe, while in port my Mom fainted (she's in her 80's) and they ambulanced her to the local hospital in Rotterdam.
She gave them her BCBS insurance card and all was handled and fully reimbursed.
We received 2 bills to pay, ambulance bill was 778 euros, and the bill for the CT scan was 275 euros!!
Cost $40 each for the 2 international wire transfers to pay the bills.
