Andy,
Fascinating stuff there Andy. But a few pointers if I may...
I have a friend John
Nice start. Leave out the last name so no one can verify.
who was a director of QA at a major HDD company,
Good, so far. Name drop a big industry related company without actually naming it.
his boss was recently hired by IOM PDA group.
Now this one is very good. A+. You simultaneously give indirection for the subject in question by saying it's not your friend, it's your friends boss. AND you imply that any further references will be related to Clik! by mentioning Iomega's PDA group.
One time they were trying to develop a new disk drive,
Again nice. The "One time" manages to hide any hopes of pinning a date. You are also ambiguous about which drive and one could assume any, although (wink wink nudge nudge) we know which one you mean. Good.
but serious quality issue delayed the launching the drive.
You did a good job setting up the scenario. Very vague yet almost perceptibly believable. Here you start to provide the allegations. Quality, always a good choice as it is almost never immediately verifiable.
He was under pressure from his boss to let the drive pass but he refused to sign. finally, his boss replaced him and the drive passed QA automatically.
Nice. Man you musta graduated from Rumormongermill Central High. Verify your allegations with the "proof" that your friend's boss was fired and toss in another allegation that the drive immediately passed after the firing.
His boss got a big bonus because he met the schedule.
The kicker. This is good. Give 'em one last kick while they're down. Builds resentment towards Iomega, helps verify your allegation of the drive slipping through QA, and is almost impossible to prove.
my friend resigned after this.
Zzzzzzzzttt! Wrong! You screwed the pooch on this one. You had this nice rumor building and you shot it all to hell. You should have said it was your friend's boss who resigned. But wait! He didn't resign, wasn't he replaced? Fatal. You have introduced two verifiable inconsistencies. You rendered your story completely unbelievable and as a result must be flunked outta Rumormongermill Central High.
I am more and more concerned new JAZ now. SUch bad thing could happen again. At least, as long as such person in charge at IOM, I will never buy IOM drive
Now, you're trying to imply it's the Jaz drive whereas it was supposed to be the Iomega PDA group? Give it up. You have failed. How can you possibly expect anyone to believe you now? When you're building a house of cards you have to be very, very careful. One error and your rumor is DOA. Sorry Andy. No candy.
