Not all of us! My preference is to find price areas where the risk/reward ratios are favorable and the risk (in terms of how much adverse price movement refutes the original case for the position) is low. That may sometimes mean saying "this dip is a good place to establish a position." It may also mean saying "this price rise will continue," which is precisely the opposite of catching knives...er, dips.

You are correct, though. Buy and sell discipline based on techincal readings is difficult. It's also difficult for fundamental, bid/ask, news, and other disciplines.

BTW, the cyclical/indicator case for going long LGND (from late December) is still intact. My stop on this trade is 11.25.
