John,

I was in my local CompUSA a couple of days ago with a friend, and the Compaq Cyrix 180 was selling for $539 w/monitor at $199. We played with it a bit on the display rack and for a starter system, it ain't bad. These cheapo starter systems are bringing in a lot of first timers who will eventually upgrade when they find out that the "toy" they purchased won't support additional peripherals or heavyweight apps adequately.

I was helping my friend, who was shopping for her first system, and she bought an HP Pavillion P166 mmx for a couple hundred bucks more and she loves it. I'm all for the sub zero market. Get 'em in the car and they'll soon want more horsepower. <g>

Regards, JB
