The situation we are in now is because of the shortsightedness of the majority of people, who are too lazy to think forward and for the benefit of the common good instead of their own personal meaningless desires.

The farmer wants more crop for next season and does not care as to the productivity of the soil in 5 to 8 years
The CEO of XYZ company care more about the quarterly results and tries to hide devastating pollution .... and the things just go on, until the Europeans have failed crops and no beer, Russians have a crumbling infrastructure in Northern Siberia the US has more and more flooding on their shores and huge wildfires in CA and the story just repeats itself.

IMHO it may be already too late without drastic measures but the red-necks do not care too much until their barley crop will fail and there will be no beer to drink and Judge Kavanah will have a problem.
