Name recognition in politics is everything. Probably most of the time especially if your name is Kennedy. However, other dynamics enter in the equation The socialist from NY beat an entrenched incumbent and she was tending bars. Enough $$$ and you get name recognition. The MSM says you are the best thing since sliced bread and in reality you are a ham sandwich (Beto). Some folks vote party no matter what. I have never voted for a dim but I have withheld votes (McCain ). Some people are out worked / outspent.
