NEW YORK, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Bankers Trust Alex.Brown said on Friday it started coverage on shares of various wireless services and wireless equipment companies, including Clearnet Communications Inc CLNTF with a strong buy rating.
-- Analyst Jeffrey Hines started coverage of Western Wireless Corp WWCA , Price Communications Corp PR , PriCellular Corp PC and Glenayre Technologies Inc GEMS with strong buy ratings.
-- started Aerial Communications Inc AERL , Nextel Communications Inc NXTL , Omnipoint Corp OMPT , Paging Network Inc PAGE and Rogers Cantel Mobile Communications Inc CA:RCMb with buy ratings.
-- rates AirTouch Communications Inc ATI , Arch Communications Group Inc APGR , Powertel Inc PTEL , Preferred Networks Inc PFNT and 360 Communications Co XO as market perform.
-- U.S. investors will grow to realize that wireless will replace wire as new digital technologies greatly enhance the quality and functionality of various wireless offerings as the two-way voice market goes mobile over the next three to 10 years, Hines said.
-- Western Wireless up 1/16 to 18-1/4, Clearnet up 3/16 to 11-1/16, AirTouch up 7/16 to 43-1/4 and Price Communications gains 5/8 to 9-5/8.
