Um, yes, but IE4 popped up on the screen again, like a persistent, tenacious weed, right after the judge returned to his chambers. That's when he e-mailed me, at Bill Gates' recommendation. Gates knew I'd have trouble removing an icon -- never mind IE4 -- and that's why he selected me for the job. The truth is that I work on a MITS Altair 8800, a 1977 "dream machine," salvaged from a dumpster near the park where I live, and I can't even load IE4, let alone remove it. Gates is aware of that, of course (he is aware of just about everything, lacking only self-knowledge perhaps). I have my Altair plugged into a street lamp, and I'm able to access the Internet with the help of a crude modulator-demodulator that converts pulses of digital data into tones one at a time, with the help of a harmonica. I once had a better setup, of course, but several trading systems didn't do as well as expected over the past few months, and I was forced (by an unsympathetic bank) to take up residence outdoors. I don't despair, though -- now that I have this new MSIE/Windows 98 job. Back when I was living indoors, a raccoon once took up residence in the chimney, so I'm not entirely inexperienced in this sort of problem. My thoughts often seem to be in a muddle these days, though -- perhaps it's the cheaper wine -- and the task is presenting difficulties. But I am, as I said, paid by the hour.
