11/9/2018 Contest update
There’s some debate about whether there was a “Blue Wave” in Tuesday’s election, but there’s no doubt quite a few Contest portfolio picks were submerged by a “Red Wave” this week.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -2.97% YTD (vs. up .37% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up .97% YTD (vs. up 1.33% YTD a week ago), the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -4.82% YTD (vs. down -1.06% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index (IXIC) was up 7.29% YTD (vs. up 6.57% YTD a week ago).
THID’s portfolio, up 65.19% YTD, held on to first place, while KEOKA’s portfolio, up 63.98% YTD and POMP’s portfolio, up 51.66% YTD, continued in second and third place. All three, however, sustained substantial losses for the week.
At Friday's close, 29 of the 62 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 28 beating the NBI and 34 beating the SPSIBI.
The 230 Contest stock picks now have an average YTD loss of -3.40% and a median YTD loss of -21.79%, with 78 showing a gain for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: AMDA symbol change to SINT.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits & mergers, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a stress-free post-election weekend biotechies.
Peace & good health,
Bulba
