Yeup, but didn't need anyone of Dez's caliber in yesterday shellacking of the Bengals. Drew Brees even made Kirkwood, a reserve guy who caught his first NFL pass yesterday, look good.
Drew is just amazing. He gets better with time.
Not surprising. His work ethic is amazing. It is hard to believe that he came back after sustaining what was deemed to be a career-ending injury while playing for San Diego. Sean Payton has to be credited for seeing something special in Drew. And -- of course - for being the offensive genius that he is.
Don't forget Jason Hill. Payton's increasing his role because he drives defenses nuts. He returns kicks, runs the ball, acts as QB, etc., and genuinely loves the game. Always smiling after a big hit. He has amazing athletic ability.
Drew's kids go to a nearby school. I hear that he attends all the plays, school functions, etc., he can. No muss, no fuss, no ego, just another proud parent when he's there.
But I do see a problem in the making because the school is the same school all the Manning kids attended. If Drew's kids inherited his talent and work ethic (and want to play football as QBs), the Brees clan will probably eclipse the Mannings.
Can you imagine the coaching Drew's kids will get should they have football talent? |
