OT dang... I was doing a long reply and I accidentally hit a back key and this place deleted it. See if I can write it quickly....

I'll get her the S8+ as it has a longer battery life and is just a tad smaller than the Note 8. My guess is the stylus takes up extra room. Do you use it?

I think every 3 years a new smart phone is the sweet spot unless they add something you really need or like.... obviously $1000 for Apple phones is showing even the wealthy this makes sense.

For PC, I just bought a new Dell with a 15" 4K touch screen, the latest 8th gen i7 chip, 32 GB memory and a 1TB SSD. Paid about $2K at Costco then I bought for about $250 a 240W docking brick for it so I can drive two more monitors plus my 4TB HD for hourly backups, a 256GB flash drive for daily backups and some other USB stuff like the charger for my Garmin smartwatch.

To leave, I just uplug one cable from the brick and remove one flash drive and I can take my laptop and spare backup flash drive with me. If I visit my brother in Napa and want to do some work, I'll toss a monitor in the car and won't even need the brick since the laptop supports one extra.

New tech is very cool!

Oh... I finally replaced slow 2.5MB/s DSL with 60MB/s Cable and now I can watch my DVR from anywhere with this setup AND do my backups quickly without having to use my cell phone's hotspot data so I have more backup capacity if the cable is down.
