Public gallery erupts with cheers as gang-rape killers are jailed for life

A gang who raped a young student before murdering her by smashing her head with a rock have been jailed for life – prompting cheers to erupt from the public gallery. Hannah Cornelius, 21, was ambushed and carjacked by the men while dropping her friend Cheslin Marsh, 22, at his home in Stellenbosch, Cape Town after a night out in May 2017.
Last week, Geraldo Parsons, 27, Vernon Witbooi, 33, and Eben van Niekerk, 28, were found guilty of Hannah’s rape and murder, as well as the kidnap, robbery and attempted murder of Cheslin.
