They hope to get $4 billion from this sale If sold at $24/share



They want to unload 167 million shares which is easily 10x the normal share volume. The stock has been sliding for some time.... I doubt very much they will get $4 billion for all those shares. They cannot put all those shares on the market at the same time and with this announcement I can see buyers waiting for the decline in share price if they are interested. They have an agreement with Baker Hughes where by Baker will buy back something like 65Million shares.... will they pay $24/shares if the stock continues to decline???? They are not a charity... the rest goes to market.

Also let's say they got the $4 billion for the shares... how much of dent will that make in their debt of about $115 Billion. To me it is not much more than petty cash needed for day-to-day operation.

This is a bandaid solution to a temporary problem at best.
