Having lived in S. Cal, I have personally experienced the Santa Anna winds there. The rest of the country doesn't get that, at a certain time of year, the normal cool breezes that blow in off the ocean, giving S. Cal. 'nature's air conditioning', goes out of whack, and suddenly you have strong, hot winds off the desert blowing out to sea.

So, when you have trees and scrub dry as f*ck and ready to burn, then you get this hot strong wind, what happens?

The Santa Ana used to drive me to distraction there. I had no AC, because 11 months out of the year it wasn't needed.
