This is nothing new, and and just an extension of what SanDisk previously started. It is also not truly memory expansion, but virtual memory trickery that requires a special software layer. The speed comes not from access times, but the elimination of slow swapping to traditional disk. While its a solid product, its adoption may be limited by the software requirement.
