Whatever else happens, Pelosi, and I hope it's Pelosi, needs to keep the House Dems focused on doing whatever it takes to hold the House in 2020. Particularly try to cement the advantage with suburban voters, building toward making that a part of something like a near permanent coalition.

As for the progressive agenda, I tend to agree with your argument that much of it is where much of the country now is. Something like universal health care, even a single payer system; cleaning up the campaign finance laws; much more sensible gun control laws, much stricter; serious work on climate change issues; infrastructure. And so on.

But the narrative within which that is put takes lots of work. Just listened to Schumer on protecting Mueller. Just terrible narrative. The argument is right but the story is not only not compelling, it almost pushes one away.
