I spent a few minutes mulling what the motivation for this action by the Nigerian ISP could have been. In the end, we should all be reminded by one of the article's trailing points, i.e., BGP, as well as most of the original Internet's protocols (and most of those that followed, since they are usually designed to work hand in glove with those that came before them) were seldom designed with security in mind.
