i tihnk netspeed is targeting around 250 for CDSL modems (g.lite). i do know WSTL is working in this technology with TI, and will be there when the market develops.what we seem to be seeing with CDSL is a lot of vaporware. if these are released and they are what the market wants, we can all envision yet another round of trial deployments, which isnt really good for anyone. i dont even know if the market for these devices is going to develop. from what i have heard, set up of ADSL service is not that complicated, and the amount of bandwidth available with CDSL is lower than typical ADSL. i know there are those out there who will say that 1.5 Mbps is fast enough on the download and for right now, they are mostly correct. but saying that that is all that people will ever want is stupid. bill gates made a comment in the early eighties regarding memory, to the effect that he saw no reason for a person to ever have more than 640k of RAM<G>.
CDSL, IMHO, is little more than a stop gap solution. and i for one do not want it. i want the fast kind.
good luck to all, trey |
