I don't dislike cats as a general principle. I'm very allergic to them, so I can't visit a home that has cats. Even getting a ride in the car of one who has cats at home is chancing it. If I weren't allergic, I'd consider a housecat to be pleasant company.
What I really hate are people who own cats, then let them run outside. I am seriously ticked off every time I find a pile of feathers in our backyard. I buy into the theory that outdoor cats are an ecological disaster. So while I don't have any trouble with folks owning cats, I think (my strong but subjective opinion) that any cat seen outside off a harness, however briefly, should be summarily defined and treated as feral.
