Roy, the core of the company's technologies is its patented physical vapor synthesis (PVS) process (this is the way NANX vaporizes metal or ceramic material into atoms that are mixed with a gas to form nanometric particles). NANX has also developed related technologies to further enhance the characteristics of materials produced by its PVS process, including a proprietary discrete particle encapsulation (DPE) process which completely coats each individual nanocrystalline particle (prevents particles from bunching together, and allows alteration of particles to enhance certain outcomes), and a proprietary net-shaping technology which enables NANX to "rapidly fabricate dimensionally precise high tolerance structural components without costly machining." The latter is the technology the company developed with Caterpillar. This is the technology the company may eventually use to manufacture ceramic engines, and related engine parts. TT
