Took a few mycology classes as a grad student and did a rotation through a medical mycology lab (academic dept in a med school, did first two years of med school before deciding not to do M.D.*), and spent most of my time as an undergrad in entomology and plants of California classes. Can you imagine how much fun I'd have doing what you are doing? Lots! Just very cool.

*One hour long clinical lecture on graft versus host disease was all it took. Square peg, round hole.
