I was just venting about Wallace - who at one time I thought was one of the "good guys".

It seems to me that accuracy in news is rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

I frequently wonder who will record an accurate accounting of our modern history - or if anyone even will care about it.

After reading some of the interview, I understand your perspective much better.

An interesting point about the historical perspective but that is what I think good historians attempt to do. Attempt to eliminate the bias that was present. The past is clouded by the bias of its time and the present inserts its own biases into the interpretation of the past.

It seems that humans aren't all that rational and that is true historically as well as in current times. We go through rare spell of high lucidity and that tends to correspond with periods of great hardship and peril. The more that I read about our founding, the more that I realize it was a rarity. Ben Franklin summed it up well when he said "A republic, IF you can keep it." Freedom is like air, it is life giving but we don't cherish it until it is lost.
