VTEL Technology at Super Bowl XXXII Leads Videoconferencing Program

VTEL Systems connect Sprint at San Diego site to NFL cities

SAN DIEGO, Calif., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Super Bowl XXXII isn't the only big event happening in San Diego. Against the backdrop of football's
premier game stands a unique collaboration between VTEL(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: VTEL - news), the global leader in Digital Visual
Communications(TM), and Sprint, the official telecommunications provider to the NFL. It's all part of ''Coca-Cola and Sprint present the NFL Experience,''
a 20-acre interactive football theme park in San Diego, site of Super Bowl XXXII.

''VTEL Corporation is pleased to have this opportunity to work closely with another global communications leader like Sprint to show the world the ease,
versatility and creative potential of digital visual communications,'' said VTEL president Jerry Benson. ''Fans will have the opportunity to talk face-to- face
with their favorite players and coaches from half a continent away. So, when Chiefs' coach Marty Schottenheimer talks with fans at the NFL Experience in
San Diego, it will seem like he's right in the room. That's because VTEL's digital technology liberates people from the constraints of time and distance.''

The centerpiece of the 5-day NFL Experience celebration (January 16-18 and 23-24) is ''Sprint Stadium'' and its huge JumboTron(R) display, which is tied to

celebrities located in various NFL cities. Many of those interactions will be broadcast on the JumboTron.

package is based on an open PC architecture that makes it easy to use, scaleable, cost efficient and upgradeable. The LC5000 offers advanced features that
include high-speed Pentium(R) processor technology, motion handling at 30 frames per second for superior image clarity, StandardsPlus Video(TM), the
videoconferencing industry's best standards-based video quality, and a Windows(R) interface that allows it to connect with various other systems in the
industry.

The VTEL system is connected to other NFL cities around the country, including Atlanta and Chicago, where Bears coach Dave Wannstedt is scheduled to
appear. The Sprint Stadium videoconferencing program, hosted by ESPN personalities Joel Myers and Chris Marlowe, will allow fans to ask questions of NFL
guests from around the country. The Sprint Stadium videoconferencing schedule kicks off on Friday, January 16 and runs throughout the weekend. The
