On our program today our crack correspondent (and friend) Jim Lord reported Live and in living color from the Securities Industry Association Conference in New York City. Three newsworthy items emerged:
1) Dr. Ed Yardeni, well known economist from Deutsche, Morgan, Greenfeld advised that he is prepared to raise his estimate of the probability of a "nasty" recession as a result of Y2K from 40% to 60%.
2) Gartner Group is preparing to raise its much quated Y2K cost range estimate from $300M-$600M to $1.5T to $3Trillion.
3) Street wide testing will take place as follows "beta test" July 1998, Tier 1 test March & April 1999, Tier 2 testMay 1999.

Much food for thought!

Regards,
Ed
