I recently made the insurance change to a company offering me the self monitor option for my driving habits. I decided to go with it as I rarely have an incident that matters. After 6 months of typical driving, a few registered "hard brakes" (mostly caused by just catching a yellow light at the wrong time), and nothing else out of the ordinary I was due for renewal. The result of their monitoring my driving all that time was a $97 reduction in my auto rate. I won't get that reduction next time around, but it's a savings I would have missed if I had opted out of the monitoring.

BTW, screaming at another driver, foul language and other examples of bad attitude are NOT measured by the device. Hard braking, jack rabbit starts, driving at more dangerous times of day, frequent night driving are the things most monitored. Pretty easy to comply, I'd say.
