Goodwill is a balance sheet number that when combined with hard assets is used to balance the liabilities. It is not worth any money ... it is an intangible.

Having a high goodwill number is not really a good thing... it means you don't have enough assets to cover your liabilities...

Many evaluators of a company ignore the goodwill number all together as it is worthless monetarily. It can mean reputation in the industry or things like customer lists but when a company is sold how valuable those lists are is moot.

PS: I think the fall continues because with all the reorganization that is done, there is nothing concrete to show an improvement in the business.
